Music is an important form
of worship at Tansley. In addition to hymns, anthems, praise music, gifts of music from the Choirs and soloists, we occasionally involve the congregation through sung responses and other
"interactive" pieces. All of our groups welcome anyone who has a love of music and wishes to sing. You don't need a musical background, only a desire to raise your voice in praise.
Choir
Our 4-part Choir offers music leadership each Sunday morning from September through June.
This typically includes one or two anthems each Sunday, plus special music during the Christmas and Easter seasons. We are a very social group--practices are a lot of fun, and we're always looking for new members! Come out to our Thursday night practice and give us a try!
InspireCome Sing and dance with Tansley’s newest choir. Inspire. This choir is for ages 4 to 18 years of age. We rehearse on Sundays from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. at the front of the Sanctuary. Repertoire: inspirational and popular songs
Tuning in
Let’s find harmony and rhythm together. Bring your music maker. Blow your horn, strum along, ring your
bells, fold your accordion, toot your whistle, or clap your spoons. Tuning In is a group for Tansley
people to play musical instruments, any instruments, and make music together in a group. Reading music
is helpful but not essential.
Michael Mulrooney will arrange two or three simple pieces for us to try together. Maybe we can play a
selection at Candles, Carols and Cookies.
More of this simple harmony will depend on our enthusiasm, time, and our ability.
