Outreach
We delivered a truck full of gifts, knitted goods
and food items to help support the Wesley No Charge Christmas Store on Sunday
December 11th. We were met at the curb by a group of about 10 teenage boys who
participate in a Hamilton Basketball outreach program sponsored by Wesley. They
promptly unloaded our truck into grocery carts and took everything in to be
sorted ready for the shoppers. Tansley was thanked by numerous people for our
donations. Thank you to everyone who contributed items and helped pack up and
get them to the truck. Tansley: Reaching out to our community, region, and world. The Outreach Committee seeks opportunities for Tansley to offer help, wherever it is needed. We have decided to focus on three projects for a 3 – 5 year time frame: Global Project: Haiti: Support of Empower Global http://www.empowerglobal.org/, a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower the impoverished through microcredit and community development programs, including primary healthcare in and around Cap Haitien. Regional Project: Wesley Urban Ministries www.wesleyurbanministries.com/, a Hamilton Conference outreach mission, offering a hand up to those in need. We will serve a chili dinner there on Sunday November 13 and support the No-Cost Christmas Store in December. Our quarters from September 11 went to the Children’s programs. Local Project: We are still investigating where best we can put our resources in Burlington. If you have any suggestions, please speak to one of the members of the committee.
In addition, we will support appeals by the United Church of Canada. During Summer 2011, we
publicized the appeal for relief for The Horn of Africa. We are also investigating helping with a project to collect clothing for SOCKS (Support Orphaned Children Kenyan School) http://sockscanada.org/ orphanage in Kenya, a cause Tansley has supported in the past. Want to Help?
